PAS pips DAP & PKR for Perak MB

Hot off the press from Malaysiakini.

Pasir Panjang state assemblyperson and Perak PAS secretary Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin was today confirmed as the new menteri besar of the state.

The decision was reached after the Regent of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah met with the three nominees for the post this evening.

The other two candidates for the post were state DAP chairperson and Sitiawan state assemblyperson Ngeh Khoo Ham and PKR’s Behrang assemblyperson Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi.

Also decided today is that Ngeh would be made the deputy mentri besar (1) while an Indian candidate would be made deputy mentri besar (2).

The new mentri besar will be sworn in at 4pm tomorrow.

No DAP CEC mandate for PAS Menteri Besar in Perak

The decision to appoint a PAS Assemblyman Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as Perak Mentri Besar has caused shock and consternation to DAP leaders, members and supporters.

The DAP Central Executive Committee, at its emergency meeting in Penang on Sunday, 9th March 2008, had given approval for the formation of a Perak coalition government comprising 18 DAP Assembly members, seven PKR Assemblymen and six PAS Assemblymen.

DAP is prepared to accept DAP chairman and Assemblyman for Sitiawan Ngeh Koo Ham or PKR Behrang Assemblyman Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi as Perak Mentri Besar.

As the appointment of PAS Assemblyman for Pasir Panjang Mohamad Nizar Jamaludin as Perak Mentri Besar representing the third and smallest political party in the proposed coalition has not received the mandate of the CEC, DAP Perak Assemblymen will stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for Perak Mentri Besar scheduled tomorrow.

LKS should be more matured. Dont go round doing this type of rubbish that make all your supporters look bad. We really regret voting DAP. Get out of the idea that you are fighting only for the Chinese. Fight for all Malaysians.

He is not from Ipoh and he does not know how we think.

He only has 5 years to proof his worth and he has just taken the 1st step to self destruction by boycotting the Sultan's decision.

Link to Lim Kit Siang's blogpost stating that the DAP is shocked by the appointment of the PAS MB by HRH Sultan of Perak and that DAP's Perak assemblymen will stay away from the swearing-in ceremony for the said MB tomorrow.
