Imam of Red Mosque becomes Priscilla, Queen of the Desert

I am tingling with anticipation. I'm positively buzzing inside.

Not even 3 weeks after local muftis - (ref: Bald women turn off Little Ayatollahs) - figuratively screwed Syarifah Amani good and hard for supposedly contravening Islamic covenants by going bald (in apparent imitation of men ie. the opposite sex), the Imam of the renowned Red Mosque (Lal Masjid) himself gets caught cross-dressing (in drag) as a farkin woman!

So, I'm anticipating damning worldwide condemnation of this imam and his travestite antics - by other imams, muftis and Islamic clerics worldwide. If that doesn't happen..., the international elegant silence will prove that the Malaysian muftis who spoke against Sharifah Amani were simply making up their own personal Islamic laws. And that's imitating god, which must surely be the biggest sin in the good book.

ISLAMABAD, July 4 (RIA Novosti) - The Pakistani media reported Wednesday that the Imam of the Red Mosque (Lal Masjid) in Islamabad, packed with Islamic radicals, was arrested as he tried to escape disguised as a woman.

Local TV reported, without any official confirmation, that Abdul Aziz was arrested as he tried to sneak past police cordons with a group of female Islamic students wearing burqas.

Your comment there represents the very problem itself.

You cannot see the difference between the religion of god and the 'enforcement' of religion by man.

Here, I have highlighted the imminent inconsistency of the religious 'authorities' attitudes towards the issue of 'looking like the other sex'. I'm asking why the difference in treatment a female entertainer going bald and a religious cleric cross-dressing?

If you see this as an attack on the religion of Islam rather than an attack on the people enforcing their personal interpretation of Islamic law at their own whims and fancies... too bad. Nothing I can do about that.

Btw, you said the situation is different. Does it matter? Is the sin of cross-dressing less than the shame of surrender to the govt (thereby saving his life anyway)? So are you saying that Islamic Law can be subordinated to a man's pride?

And by accepting the 'differences' in situation, you are basically creating exceptions to Islamic "laws". Do these exceptions exist in holy books, or did the imam just make it up to save his own skin?

What happens when every religious "authority" makes up their own 'exceptions', thereby subtly but effectively modifying the very laws themselves? Ooopssss... did I just hit the nail on the head, with regards to the current problems of Islam vs everyone else?

The difference is the intent. Are we suddenly in doubt that the escaped mufti has changed his views on homosexuals & cross dressers? I don't think so.

I see most of your post as an attack on Islam, no matter, you are ignorant. You do however proves that Quran is right about kuffars and their desire to turn muslims into non believers.

I hope your enmity towards Islam have encourage stronger faith and muslim identification for the muslim reader.

Intent??? Was Sharifah Amani condemned because she was bald, or because she was trying to look like a man?

Or is that going bald just happens to make her look like a man to some people?

Did you know her intent was for her vocation of acting? ie. halal intent. Might it be that she's gone bald but does not have any intent at all to look like a man?

Do you see where your theocratic arguments are nothing more than rhetoric and hold no water to any logical person?

Sigh... like I said many times... if you do not see the problems with how Islam is administered in this country and how non-Muslims are unfairly treated in its wake, it is you who are ignorant and unenlightened.

In this, I am with you. I add I hope it also spurs Muslims who hold unenlightened opinions like you do to do more study into the real tenets of Islam like being civilised, fairness and justice.
